III Sisters of Nature Curling Gelo

My sisters, who are both natural, swear by this product. However I have learned that products that most people swear by, just doesn't work for me. They sent me samples of this Natural Curling Gelo, which is ironically manufactured by III Sisters of Nature. On the package it says it's comparable to Kinky-Curly, and on their website it says it "helps enhance your natural curl pattern...", but I have never tried Kinky-Curly, that so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was told I could use it to slick my hair back after washing, but that didn't do anything - it was just like regular gel. I tried it on a wash and go, but it didn't do anything to define my curls and my hair was still a frizzy mess. I should have taken pictures but I was just too frustrated with the lack of results. I have yet to find a routine that is satisfactory and my shrinkage doesn't allow me to style my hair in a way I like. I'll probably revisit the product when I gain some length. Oh well, the search continues.

Lusti Naturals

Some naturals like to go for pricey products, or they tend to try a bunch of different products to find what works for them which can break the bank as well. Personally, I like to find items that are less a strain on the pocketbook, but still keep my hair healthy and moisturized. I love the dollar store for nail polish and snacks but now I have found hair products that are not full of mineral oil or cones. For the record I'm not really against those ingredients but a lot of naturals swear against them. I ran across Lusti Naturals Argan Oil products. I picked up a hair repair mask, strengthening spray, hair moisturizer, hair gel. They also have a leave-in conditioner but that has mineral oil. I don't mind mineral oil in my wash out conditioners, but not my leave-ins. The hair repair mask was nothing special. It had a nice consistency and smell, but I added olive oil for a little more umph. The strengthening spray was just okay. I will say that the moisturizer was very effective on a second day twist out I did. But that gel - that gel! I love it! It's not good for gelling the hair down for a hard style a brown gel, but I use it for defining my curls and making my waves pop. It is definitely a keeper. I have had a time since going natural finding what really works. So far, nothing does, including Lusti Naturals products for the most part. But for $1.00 it definitely wouldn't hurt to find out if this would work for you.

My Journey

This is the second time I will be going from relaxed to natural. The first time in 1997 I had a short haircut, just stopped relaxing and just chopped it off when I got about four inches of new growth. There wasn't a drastic difference. I went natural because I was just ready for natural hair. I wore it natural for about four years. I became a Flight Attendant and decided to relax because I wanted a new look and wasn't really educated on how to take care of my natural hair while traveling so much. I now regret doing that. So now I have decided to go natural because I love my natural. Also, I have experienced a lot of breakage and my hair seems to have stopped taking relaxers. I don't want short hair right now so I am transitioning. Now there is so many more resources available for those you want to wear their hair in its natural state. My last relaxer was in September of 2009 and so far there hasn't been too much breakage - only the parts that were always underprocessed on my left side in the back. I am really excited about taking this journey again and I welcome anyone who is going through, has gone through or are just thinking about it to share this journey with me!
